I can sell my Explorer

I brought the Explorer my grandfather bought me 20 years ago. He loves Rolex watches, especially the simple Explorer, which he used to dream of wearing. However, he hasn't worn it much lately and has just been storing it. He saw a flyer about the Explorer for sale at a high price and said now was a good time to sell it, so I took it to the nearby Jewel Cafe. I was apprehensive because all the accessories, like the box and case, had been thrown away, and the watch hadn't been serviced recently. But I was able to get a higher price than I expected thanks to their campaign to buy more Explorers, and for that I'm very grateful.

I feel comfortable selling my Explorer!

Due to various circumstances, I found myself in need of cash, so I thought about selling the Explorer I impulsively bought about 20 years ago, influenced by a TV drama I'd watched. A friend recommended Jewel Cafe to me. The female staff member at the store greeted me cheerfully, and we had a great conversation about the TV drama that had influenced me. I was very reluctant to part with my Explorer because it was a watch worn by a celebrity I admired greatly, but the staff gave me great emotional support, making me feel comfortable selling it. Thank you! Thanks to the excellent service, I'll definitely come back again in the future. Someday I'll buy another Explorer!

I'm selling the Explorer my grandfather gave me long ago for an unimaginable price!

I managed to sell my Explorer. My grandfather gave it to me as a gift, so I wore it for a while, but I'm not really into watches and haven't worn them at all lately. While shopping at Across Mall, I saw a sign from Jewel Cafe that said they would "buy even a broken Rolex." At first, I just asked out of curiosity, "I have an Explorer, is it okay even if it's broken?" I got such a warm response that I brought it back the next day. They offered me an unimaginable price, so I decided to sell it even though it was a gift from my grandfather.

I went to sell my Explorer

I brought a Ref. 14270 Explorer. I was lucky enough to be able to buy a new version, so I brought my old one to be appraised as a trade-in. The appraiser told me that Explorers have been selling well lately, and he also explained how rare the model is. Even though my Explorer isn't a rare model, I'm satisfied with the price. I was able to sell it for more than I bought it for, so thank you very much! I think I sold it at the right time. By the way, I even received a 20,000 yen discount for booking the appointment online.

I came to sell my Explorer

I brought an Explorer that I'd owned before I got married. I hadn't worn it since I had children, so I'd just kept it for years. Since I wasn't planning on giving it to anyone or wearing it myself, I decided to sell it. Since I was selling it, I wanted to get a good price. So I went to several stores, but Jewel Cafe did a very thorough appraisal and consultation. They offered me a high price even though it was an older Explorer. I was worried about having to wait a long time because my child was restless, but the other staff members stayed with him, and I was able to proceed with the process calmly.

I am selling a Rolex Explorer that is about 15 years old.

I've managed to sell my Rolex Explorer. I bought it about 15 years ago with the intention of wearing it for the rest of my life, but maintenance costs, such as servicing, are prohibitive, and lately I've found my smartphone to be good enough for telling time. I've had the watch in my closet for a while, but I feel like it'll just wear out if I leave it there. I don't want my Explorer to go to waste, so I decided to sell it. I went to Jewel Cafe because I'd seen their brochure a few times. After having it appraised, I was surprised to find that my Explorer was worth more than I thought. Thank you so much!

I got my strapless Explorer appraised

When my family was cleaning out my grandfather's house, we found a Rolex Explorer with its strap missing. My father vaguely remembered my grandfather wearing a watch like that, but the rest of the family didn't even know it existed. I didn't know if it was authentic, and it was missing some parts, so I was embarrassed to have it appraised. But my mother reminded me of a flyer from Jewel Cafe that accepted even broken Explorers, so I took it to the store. The female staff member greeted me cheerfully. When I told her about my thoughts of throwing it away, she said, "Even if it's broken, it's still an Explorer! It would be a shame to throw it away. If you're in doubt about items you don't want, please bring them to us. After all, appraisals are free." I was relieved to hear her kind words, and if I find anything else, I'll definitely bring it to Jewel Cafe.

I can sell Rolex Explorer

I first bought my Explorer about 10 years ago. I loved it so much I wore it, but the dial broke, and I locked it in the house in tears. It was quite expensive when I bought it, but I wondered if I could still sell it even with the dial broken, so I took it to Jewel Cafe. The female staff there greeted me cheerfully. She was very polite as she inspected my Explorer in front of me. The appraised value was higher than I expected, and she explained a lot about the damage and the fact that it hadn't been repaired. I was satisfied with the purchase price, and I would visit them again if I had anything else to sell.

Ways to sell Rolex Explorer
at a higher price

How to Sell Rolex Explorer at a High Price〈 1 〉

Sell your Rolex as soon as possible if you have decided that you won’t be using it

The price of a Rolex varies depending on the model, but it can also fluctuate depending on the production year and reference number. For example, popular models with a relatively newer year and reference number can fetch a higher market price. Also, since demand tends to vary depending on the model, we recommend that you sell your Rolex as soon as you have decided that you will not be using it.

How to Sell Rolex Explorer at a High Price〈 2 〉

Sell your Rolex with its warranty card and accessories for a higher price

Be sure to keep the warranty card, box, spare parts, and instruction manual that came with your Rolex when you purchased it. Without the warranty card, you may not be able to receive an authorized service or repair. Therefore, the purchase price of a Rolex will vary greatly depending on whether it has a warranty card. In addition, if the watch does not come with spare links, this limits its range of adjustable sizes, which may result in a lower price. That’s why it is advisable to keep all accessories carefully without throwing them away.

How to Sell Rolex Explorer at a High Price〈 3 〉

Remove the dirt from your Rolex and keep it clean to sell it at a higher price

The key to increasing the appraisal value of a Rolex is to clean it as much as possible beforehand. Even a simple cleaning at home, such as wiping the glass surface or removing dirt from the crevices of the strap, can impact the appraisal value. If your Rolex has not been serviced for a long time, it is a good idea to just bring it in as is. Of course, a watch that has been serviced will fetch a higher price, but Rolexes can be expensive to repair and it may take many months. Considering the downsides, it is recommended to bring in the watch without getting it serviced.

About Purchasing an Explorer Watch

The history of Rolex begins in London. It is said that today there are around 600 Swiss watchmaking companies, many of which were founded over 100 years ago. However, only a handful have managed to maintain their operations uninterrupted to this day. One such company is Rolex, whose founder, Hans Wilsdorf, was born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1881. At the age of 12, he lost both his parents, dropped out of school, and began working for Cuno Korten, a Swiss watchmaker in La Chaux-de-Fonds. There, he was tasked with exporting British watches, allowing him to develop his business acumen from a young age. In 1903, at the age of 22, he moved to London, and two years later, in 1905, he founded Wilsdorf & Davis, the predecessor to Rolex. Five years later, in search of a "creative and easy-to-pronounce word," he renamed the company to the Rolex brand we all know today. In 1910, he entered into a partnership involving watch movements with Aegler, a Swiss company specializing in precision instrument manufacturing, and obtained the highest level of certification from the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). In 1914, Rolex was awarded the highest recognition from the Kew Observatory. Hans Wilsdorf's next goal was to develop a robust case capable of protecting the watch movement from dust and moisture. So in 1926, in collaboration with the Oyster Watch Co., he developed and patented a hollow metal case and a screw-down crown. Thus was born the Rolex Oyster, the signature Rolex movement that endures to this day.

A legendary event made the Rolex Oyster famous worldwide: in 1927, a London stenographer named Mercedes Gleitze achieved the astonishing feat of swimming across the Strait of Dover in 15 hours and 15 minutes, all while wearing her Rolex Oyster on her wrist. The fact that Rolex was able to survive such extreme conditions demonstrated the exceptional water resistance of the Oyster case, which ultimately spurred the development of waterproof watches among other manufacturers. The success of the Rolex Oyster made Rolex a worldwide household name for its watchmaking technology, and the company subsequently turned its attention to developing automatic watches. In 1931, Rolex produced the first watch equipped with a 360-degree self-winding mechanism, thus overcoming the biggest problem with automatic winding up to that point: the mechanism's poor efficiency. This technology dramatically improved winding efficiency, further enhancing Rolex's innovative capabilities.

The integration of the perpetual movement into the prized Rolex Oyster resulted in the Oyster Perpetual, nicknamed the "Bubbleback" in today's antiques market because the rotor for winding the mainspring is positioned above the movement, resulting in the watch being unusually thick due to the rounded back being bubble-like to accommodate the rotor. In 1945, another revolutionary invention was added to the Oyster Perpetual: the Datejust. As the name suggests, the date display automatically advanced each day at midnight, a groundbreaking mechanism at the time. These three key inventions—the Oyster case in 1926, the Perpetual mechanism in 1931, and the Datejust mechanism in 1945—marked the perfection of practical Rolex watch design.
